Q: What types of goods can’t be transported by air?

A: Flammable, explosive, corrosive, poisonous and radioactive goods can’t be transported by air. Bacteria, bacteria culture medium, and other microbial products that are harmful to human, animals and plants also can’t be transported by air.

Q: What types of goods Anchor will reject to transport?

A: Anchor will reject to transport any goods, any books, newspaper or photos which is a hindrance to decency, and any advertisement, superstition and reactionary advertisement of the same kind, currency, noble metal, all kinds of securities, antique and cultural relic, food, drugs, liquid and power, munitions, or letters embargoed in accordance with the relevant policies and regulations promulgated by the State.

Q: How to buy insurance for goods to be transported by air?

A: You should buy insurance according to the actual value of goods. Otherwise, in case of loss or damage of goods, in accordance with the relevant regulations on insurance and claims, the shipper can only obtain the compensation equivalent to the coverage (or its ratio) at most.

Q: In case of loss or damage of goods, how to go through the procedures for claiming?

A: 1. If goods are damaged or loss, the consignee should communicate this to the carrier, and the carrier should complete the Transportation Accident Visa which should be signed or stamped by both parties.

2. To claim for compensation with the carrier, the consignee or the shipper should complete the Claim for Compensation, and attach the Consignment Note, Transportation Accident Visa, and the voucher or other valid certificate which can prove the content and price of the goods to it.

3. The consignee or the shipper who has not claimed for compensation within the statutory claim period will be regarded as waiving the claim.

4. The claim for compensation is generally handled at the destination.

5. The carrier should handle and reply the claim for compensation raised by the consignee or the shipper within 2 months.

6. The carrier who is not responsible for handling the claim for compensation should forward it to the related carrier and inform the claimer.

Q: What is offloading? Why to offload goods?

A: If goods are not transported via the scheduled flight, this is called offloading. Offloading has many reasons, including bad weather, limited load, booked up, many mails of aeroplane, etc.

Q: How does the consignee pick up the goods arriving at the airport?

A: If the consignee picks up goods from the airport himself, he should present the note number and his ID card (if the company name has been stated, also the certificate of the company). If it is a combined consignment, the consignee should pick up goods from the location we specify with the number of the House Bill of Loading (7-digit) and the ID card of the consignee (if the company name has been stated, also the certificate of the company). If it is a separate consignment and the consignee picks up goods from the location within the city specified by the civil aviation himself, he should present his ID card (if the company name has been stated, also the certificate of the company) and the note number.

Q: Precautions on consigning A/V products and PC disks.

A: To consign A/V products, the shipper shall attach the A/V products transportation certificate (issued by, e.g., the Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture), the shipment list (of local A/V products) to the goods. To consign PC disks, the shipper shall attach the mailing certificate and program list (issued by the copyright bureau) to the goods; to consign more than 3000 disks at a time, the shipper shall put on record with the airport public security bureau with the original copyright certificate of the product.

Q: If goods are loss or damaged, what about the compensation?

A: 1. If the value has been declared but no transport insurance has been bought for the goods, the carrier gives compensation according to the actual loss. But the upper limit of compensation is RMB 20/kg.

2. If the value of goods has been declared with the carrier, the carrier gives compensation according to the declared value; if the carrier proves that the declared value is higher than the actual value, the carrier gives compensation according to the actual loss.

3. If transport insurance has been bought for the goods, the insurance company gives compensation in accordance with the relevant regulations.
